Rediscovering Faith: My Church Search

Ro
I am kind of a Transcendentalist/ Christian / Buddhist / Unitarian Universalist.
Since I can’t seem to find any religious communities that actually cater to my eclectic form of religious observance, I have decided to join a Christian church in order to satisfy my deep desire to be a part of a religious order.
I once thought that committing myself to one church or another meant that I had to give up my right to think independently about all things spiritual and that being a Christian (and establishing relationships with other Christians)meant that I had to abandon the beautiful truths of other religions and blindly accept a belief system prescribed to me by “The Christian Church”.
I was wrong.
At the heart of Christianity, and most religions, is God, and our ideas of God are personal. I am not giving up my Self when I join a church community; I am offering my time and my resources as a contribution to the good work the church is doing in the community and in the world.
Wish me luck.
